Welcome
to the world of the OPTIGAN (NOT "Optigon," "Optagon"
or "Octagon!")! In the early 70's, Mattel devised this
OPTIcal orGAN to play back the sounds of REAL instruments, encoded
on celluloid discs like concentric rings of movie soundtrack.
The result was pretty crappy sounding and soon forgotten by the
world at large, but if this sounds to you like perfect fodder
for an obsessive, almost fetishistic website, then you're absolutely
correct! If this is your first visit, we suggest that you read
this
article. Otherwise, feel free to browse
our copious archives to your heart's content- just click on the
optigan logo....

- Hi everyone!! Updates to optigan.com have been very few and
far between lately, due to Llyswen's and Pea's hectic schedules
and also just a smidgen of pure laziness. Rest assured, though,
that we're both still here, Shoptigan
still works, and there are tons of updates forthcoming to the
website. No promises on when these will actually materialize-
we just wanted to make sure y'all didn't think we had become a
ghost-site!
Please note that The Official Optigan/Talentmaker/Orchestron Optical Organ Toolkit has been expanded and relaunched at a new lower price, and limited quantities of replacement optigan parts are also available here- go to Shoptigan for details!
