I have a potential buyer for my optigan who will need it shipped to him. He suggested I disassemble the optigan for shipping. Has anyone ever done this? Or know how much it would reduce the cost of shipping? (shipping the whole thing through UPS was quoted to be between $600-$1100 not counting the cost of a crate to mail it in).

Any advice?

i wouldn't do it. i don't see what the advantage would be, as an optigan wouldn't compact into a smaller package unless it was more or less thoroughly dismantled, which is unreasonable both for the dismantler and also for the person who would have to try to assemble it again on the other end. i suggest getting quotes from a freight company or maybe greyhound.
