Love the fact that the manual calls it an expression pedal by the by.

I guess Pea is who I seek on this Q, and as is, the general volume on my Med model Optigan is neither poor or lacking, left or right. However, the pedal does not express the sound more when pressed all the way down. My guess is, this could be the string itself and/ or the LDR system. The string is not taut/ near taut and I simply have no clue on the LDR system.
